A new year means exciting opportunities for Shining Star Leaders at Shore Road School in the Bellmore School District as students explore new interests and connect with their peers through a lineup of clubs.

Among the student-led clubs is the Calm Café, which provides students with a peaceful space during lunchtime to enjoy quiet activities, relaxation and a break from the busy school day. Students can take the time to read, build new creations with Lego or listen to relaxing music. One student’s favorite aspect of the Calm Café is that it is run by “one of the kindest teachers in the school,” Christine Davison.

Mrs. Davison also advises the RAK Pack – short for “random acts of kindness” – that gives students the opportunity to lead philanthropic efforts throughout the year. Additionally, students can participate in the Coding Club, where they can explore problem-solving and computer programming, and “Club Español,” which helps students practice and expand their Spanish language skills while learning about Spanish-speaking cultures.

With a variety of clubs available, Shining Star Leaders are encouraged to discover new interests, develop skills and build friendships beyond the classroom.
