Second graders in the Student Star Polisher Team at Reinhard Early Childhood Center in the Bellmore School District held their first meeting of the school year on Sept. 25 as they looked ahead toward taking on meaningful roles within their school community.

Nearly 40 students came together and discussed upcoming leadership opportunities with Principal Kerri Ann Sanpietro. The Student Star Polisher Team will make their first volunteering effort during the upcoming schoolwide Pep Rally, which will feature teachers dressed in costumes on stage for a fun and engaging performance that incorporates the district’s Leadership Principles and Core Values. As second graders’ fellow students enter the auditorium for the Pep Rally, the Student Star Polisher Team will cheer them on with pompoms. During the meeting, the Rising Star Leaders also decorated posters with positive messages that will be displayed throughout the building.

Leadership experiences through the Student Star Polisher Team encourage students to recognize that they can make a positive difference among their peers at any age. Through their participation, second graders will have the opportunity to practice teamwork, respect and dedication while growing as learners and leaders.
